Santo Domingo.- A 19-year-old French national was arrested at Las Américas International Airport (AILA-JFPG) after authorities discovered he had ingested cocaine. The arrest was made by the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) and the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC) during a joint inspection coordinated with the Public Ministry.
After undergoing standard protocols in the immigration area, foreign bodies were detected in his digestive tract. He was taken to the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces, where he expelled 141 small bags of cocaine, totaling 1.06 kilograms, wrapped in black and blue latex, confirmed by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF).
The young man is now in the custody of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Santo Domingo and will face legal proceedings for violating Law 50-88 on drugs and controlled substances. Authorities are investigating the case as part of a larger international drug trafficking network that uses “mules” of various nationalities to transport drugs to the United States and Europe.
