EDEEste suspends two technicians from their duties after they were involved in an assault on a citizen

The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (EDEEste) strongly condemned the assault on a citizen, in which two technicians from a contracting company were involved, as shown in a video that has circulated on social media since October 29. The incident occurred on the shoulder of the Las Américas highway in Santo Domingo East.

The distributor clarified that the technicians, Adalberto Acosta and Jorge Alberto Herrera, are not part of its staff but belonged to a brigade of the contracting company ATAL CARIBE.

As soon as it learned what had happened, EDEEste formally notified the contracting company and demanded the immediate removal of the technicians involved from all work related to the distributor, as well as their exclusion from future service assignments for the institution.

EDEEste emphasized that it will not tolerate violence, intimidation, or conduct that threatens the integrity and dignity of citizens, whether committed by its own personnel or by those of contracting companies.

He also reiterated that all contracted companies providing services must ensure their staff acts professionally and respectfully, and adheres strictly to the institution’s required standards of conduct.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to the public and assured that it will continue to ensure compliance with the ethical and behavioral standards that should characterize the provision of an essential public service such as electricity.
