Defense Minister and U.S. officials inspect Dominican-Haitian border

Dajabón.- Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, together with Joseph Humire, U.S. Undersecretary of Defense for the West, and other authorities, carried out an inspection tour of the Dominican Republic’s border region starting in Dajabón.

The visit included senior Dominican military officials, as well as delegations from the Pentagon and U.S. Southern Command. During the tour, they evaluated the readiness of Dominican troops stationed at the border and reviewed ongoing security operations.

The minister also highlighted progress on the border wall with Haiti, reporting that one kilometer has already been completed and another 14 are under construction. He emphasized that strengthening the wall, border control, and anti-drug measures are essential to maintaining national and regional security.
