In what police call a significant progress in its anti-gun operation, the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) successfully seized two illegal firearms and a significant quantity of ammunition during a pre-dawn operation in the Diamond community.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Rapid Response Unit carried out a targeted operation in the early hours of Friday, June 13 police said. Their swift action led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with 19 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and an Uzi submachine gun loaded with 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The results of the operation were formally shared at a press conference held this morning at the RSVGPF’s Police Conference Room, where the force emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to remove illegal weapons from the nation’s streets.
Officials stressed that every illegal firearm taken out of circulation makes St Vincent and the Grenadines safer.
The successful operation is part of a broader national strategy to curb the spread of illegal weapons and strengthen community safety.
The RSVGPF continues to urge the public to come forward with any information that could assist in these efforts. Individuals can reach out through the police emergency lines (999 or 911), Police Control at (784) 457-1211, or the CID/Major Crimes Unit at (784) 456-1810.
Citizens were also advised that they can speak with any trusted police officer or station.
