Capital’s Summertime Ball 2026

4.15pm, ITV1

From Robyn bringing the stadium down with sad banger Dancing on My Own to Jason Derulo whipping his top off for Want to Love Me, Wembley witnessed quite the pop lineup at this annual bonanza last weekend. More highlights that are hopefully included: Take That classics, Raye with crowd-pleaser Where Is My Husband! and a Mis-Teeq reunion. HR

Trooping the Colour: The King’s Birthday Parade

10.30am, BBC One

Regal hoopla such as this annual parade, where elaborately hatted soldiers on horseback celebrate the king’s birthday, seem more absurd with every passing year. On the other hand, perhaps we have too much else to worry about to bother getting rid of it now. Either way, the BBC has nearly three hours of the thing, live. Jack Seale

Blankety Blank

6.25pm, BBC One

Manny is a butcher and wants to get a hair transplant in Turkey; Tina is 70 and dating (and that’s all the detail we get). They’re the first two contestants to fill in the blanks with the help of celebrities Stephen Mangan, Kimberley Walsh, Jonathan Ross, Craig Revel Horwood, Fatiha El-Ghorri and Nella Rose. HR

Casualty

8.35pm, BBC One

Flynn’s troubled military past is on the backburner this week but there is still a major bombshell poised to hit Holby’s emergency department. Prickly consultant Dylan has been making a genuine effort to connect with wannabe medic Matty. But how will he react when his secret son’s ill-judged workplace fling is revealed? Graeme Virtue

40 Originals at the BBC: Volume 2

8.35pm, BBC Two

An amazing cover version can carry a song – and artist – into the stratosphere, rendering the original all but a curio (or cult classic). Here’s the programme that showcases those first incarnations. While last year’s Volume 1 included Neil Diamond and Nine Inch Nails, this week’s roll call includes the Osmonds, Randy Newman and Chaka Khan. Ali Catterall

Two Weeks in August

9.25pm, BBC One

It’s the morning after the great big whopping party the night before, and Zoe (Jessica Raine) has the headache to prove it. When she rejoins the group, the housekeeper accuses one of them of desecrating a local temple – but will Zoe be able to keep her antics a secret? Deliciously escapist summer drama set on a gorgeous Greek island. HR

They Will Kill You, 9.30am, 6.15pm, Sky Cinema Premiere/HBO Max

Coming from a director whose first feature was Why Don’t You Just Die!, the title of this rampantly bloody, defiantly silly horror caper suggests Kirill Sokolov has a bit of a one-track mind. An unholy stew of Rosemary’s Baby and the zaniest bits of The Evil Dead, the film follows Asia (a kickass Zazie Beetz) as she visits exclusive New York apartment block the Virgil in search of her younger sister, Maria (Myha’la), who is a maid there. But she realises there is something very wrong with the place, particularly after the residents try to kill her. The undead comic action comes thick and fast (the roaming eyeball is a standout), while Patricia Arquette’s accent is a thing of mystery and wonder all by itself. Simon Wardell
