Prague’s Václav Havel Airport has experienced a remarkable upswing in both passenger numbers and cargo volumes compared to the previous year. The airport handled 68,449 tons of cargo in the first nine months of 2025, surpassing last year’s total of 65,000 tons. Passenger traffic also saw a significant boost, with 13.28 million travelers passing through the terminal—an increase of 911,000 from the same period last year.
Record-Breaking Growth
The airport recorded 105,573 takeoffs and landings in the first nine months, a 6.37 percent rise year-on-year. September alone saw nearly 1.76 million passengers, up from just under 1.63 million in the same month last year. These figures, released in the airport’s latest quarterly statistics, highlight Prague’s growing appeal as a regional aviation hub.

British destinations remain the most popular among travelers, with 175,767 people flying to the UK in September and 1.63 million since the start of the year. Italy followed closely, with 175,010 passengers heading there in September. Spain, Greece, and Turkey also ranked high, with 170,885, 158,719, and 127,562 travelers respectively. Germany, France, and Egypt were also among the most sought-after destinations.
London Leads the Way
London continues to be the top city choice, with 112,899 passengers flying there in September and just over one million since January. Antalya in Turkey came in second, followed by Paris, which overtook Amsterdam with 58,632 passengers in September. Other popular destinations included Istanbul, Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, and Tel Aviv.
A Hub for Europe and Beyond
The surge in passenger numbers and cargo traffic reflects Prague’s expanding role as a key gateway between Central Europe and the rest of the world. With its strategic location and growing network of routes, the airport is attracting more travelers and businesses alike, further cementing its status as a vital transport hub.
