You don’t need a plane ticket to experience the rhythms of Brazil—just a train to Brno.
Brno will once again become a hub of Brazilian culture as the city welcomes the return of Brasil Fest Brno, the largest event of its kind in Central Europe.
The three-day festival kicks off on Thursday, with a full schedule of concerts, dance performances, and street parades bringing a tropical flair to Brno’s historic center.
On Saturday, the festival’s main parade will move through the city center, joined by hundreds of dancers and musicians from across Europe and Latin America.
The route starts at Moravské náměstí and ends at Zelný trh. This year, for the first time, the parade will include a five-meter puppet of the Brno dragon, decorated in the Brazilian national colors.
The festival’s programme will open on Thursday, July 30, with a special concert by Hamilton de Holanda Trio at Špilberk Castle’s Summer Cinema.
The Brazilian mandolinist, winner of the 2025 Latin Grammy Award for Best Jazz Album, is one of the leading figures of contemporary Brazilian music.
On Friday, the festival will move to the city centre with free performances at Moravské náměstí and náměstí Svobody. Visitors can look forward to the Ritmo Factory Big Show, an energetic performance combining Brazilian-inspired percussion, dance and capoeira, followed by a concert from Mirla Riomar, a singer from Salvador da Bahia known for blending Afro-Brazilian traditions with a modern sound.
The main highlight of Brasil Fest Brno will arrive on Saturday, August 1, with the traditional carnival parade through the streets of Brno. Hundreds of dancers, drummers, capoeira performers and other artists will fill the route from Moravské náměstí to náměstí Svobody and Zelný trh, creating a colourful spectacle inspired by Brazil’s famous carnival celebrations.
A warm-up programme will begin earlier in the afternoon, followed by the parade at 16:00.
The evening programme at náměstí Svobody will continue with a Brazilian dance show featuring multiple dance groups, followed by performances from artists including Ely Janoville 4tet and Brazilian singer-songwriter MADDU, whose music reflects her northeastern Brazilian roots and combines poetic songwriting with a powerful stage presence.
The festival will conclude on Sunday, August 2, with a Family Day at Lužánky Park, offering workshops, games and creative activities for children. Young visitors will be able to make carnival masks, enjoy face painting, try dancing and join a special children’s carnival parade through the park.
