Ukrainian MP Andriy Parubiy, former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian parliament), was killed today in a shooting in Lviv, in the western part of the country, as announced by Ukrainian authorities.
The Ukrainian police confirmed that a shooting incident took place in Lviv and that a “public figure and well-known politician” lost his life. The perpetrator was an unknown man posing as a delivery driver, and a manhunt has been launched to locate and arrest him.
President Volodymyr Zelensky later clarified that it was Andriy Parubiy, calling it a “horrific murder,” and promised that an investigation would be conducted to clarify the exact circumstances of the MP’s death.
