A drunk driver hit five vehicles on Limassol’s coastal road in the early hours of Monday morning, police said, after losing control of his car near the Molos area.

The incident occurred at around 6:20am as the 38-year-old was driving east along the coastal avenue.

He first struck the rear of a vehicle in front of him, then veered left and right, hitting a parked car and two further vehicles before mounting the pavement, where he struck protective bollards and an EAC pole before coming to a stop in the middle of the road.

The driver tested positive in a preliminary breathalyser check and was taken to Limassol Traffic Police headquarters.

He is expected to be arrested under a court warrant and brought before Limassol District Court tomorrow, where police will seek a remand order.
