HAVANA TIMES – What began as an attempted robbery ended up turning into a scene of tension, shouting, and confrontation in the middle of a Havana residential neighborhood. A woman armed with a hammer and her husband carrying a bat came face to face with an alleged thief who reportedly tried to enter their home on Tuesday afternoon.

According to witnesses, the suspect took advantage of a moment of inattention to try to get into the house. However, he was discovered by the homeowners before he could carry out his plan. Their reaction was immediate.

Amid the pressure and nervousness, a heated exchange of words broke out, quickly disturbing the peace of the neighborhood. Residents came out of their homes after hearing the shouting and watched as the couple held the alleged thief until the authorities arrived.

The alleged thief shouted:

“Ma’am, ma’am, I keep telling you,
I didn’t know this was a house.
I thought it was an abandoned place.
If I had known it was a house, I wouldn’t have gone in.
I have a home and a family too.”

The tension continued to rise for several minutes. The man tried to justify his actions, while the homeowners demanded answers and complained about the insecurity affecting the community.

Finally, police officers arrived at the scene, brought the situation under control, and took the suspect into custody to begin the corresponding investigation.
