No Flight Cancellations for Croatia, With Guests Planning to Spend More

April the 18th, 2026 – There are currently no flight cancellations as far as Croatia is concerned, with guests even planning on spending more this year.

Transport Minister Oleg Butković recently announced that there’s no fuel shortage at Croatian airports and he isn’t sure where these panicked headlines are coming from in the country’s regard. He assured that he has had “no such information” about any sort of fuel shortage and that INA, as the country’s sole supplier, has ensured there will be enough fuel for air traffic.

With that being said, the ongoing war in the Middle East and the continued blockage of the important artery of the Strait of Hormuz, the situation remains a dynamic one.

As Financije.hr writes, the height of the summer tourist season is now rapidly approaching, and there are currently no announcements of flight cancellations to Croatia, Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina said after a recently held government session.

He stated that he had indeed spoken with the directors of all Croatian airports in the middle of last week and that no flight cancellations towards Croatia had been reported in any capacity at that time, despite the unfolding situation regarding fuel and energy shocks.

Glavina is therefore of the belief that disruptions being strongly felt across other markets might even open up additional space for Croatia on the global travel and tourism map. He revealed that the ministry is actively encouraging Croatian airports to enter into additional negotiations with airlines, and public funds have been secured and set aside for such activities.

In addition to that, in cooperation with the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), the message that Croatia is a close, safe and very easily accessible destination is being increasingly communicated. Back in February, the Croatian National Tourist Board announced that it would increase investments in air connectivity and marketing cooperation by an extremely significant 30% this year alone.

While the state is trying to additionally secure arrivals from abroad, research shows that the interest of domestic guests in spending their summer holidays in Croatia remains stable.

According to the latest MasterIndex, conducted for Mastercard back in March by Improve on a sample of 1,009 banking customers aged 18 to 55, 74% of respondents stated that they plan to spend their summer holiday this year within the borders of this country, which is on par with last year’s results. At the same time, the average planned spending increased to 1,404 euros, which is 158 euros more than last year.

This year, Croats are also planning a slightly longer summer break. The average duration of a summer break for Croatia is 10.5 days, almost one day more than last year, although shorter breaks still prevail: 53% of respondents plan a trip of up to seven days, while approximately a third aim for a vacation of eight to 14 days.

Those who choose hotel accommodation plan the largest budgets, on average 1,911 euros, while daily spending per person will increase to 117 euros.
