Dugopolje, 21 April 2026 – A €20 million investment will see the opening of Uglešić Health & Care Centar, a hybrid health and social care centre offering integrated services.

The new facility in Dugopolje, near Split introduces a hybrid model that combines healthcare and social services under one roof, a first for Croatia and a concept with potential to influence care systems across Southeast Europe.

Located in the heart of Dalmatia, the centre will integrate modern medical, rehabilitation, interventional and hotel-style accommodation into a single, comprehensive system designed to improve quality of life, particularly for older people.

The project is led by Ana Gruica Uglešić, who oversees investment and development, while Professor Boran Uglešić is responsible for the medical and scientific direction of the centre.

The initiative builds on a long-standing family vision that blends tradition, expertise and modern technology.

“This investment is not only about building a facility, but about investing in the future of healthcare and the quality of life in our community,” the Uglešić family said.

“Our aim is to set new standards by creating a place where top-level medical care and modern living come together.”

The centre is expected to create more than 110 new jobs, providing a boost to the local economy while also supporting the development of health tourism in the region.

Designed to accommodate up to 216 users, the complex will consist of two main units. Uglešić Senior will cater primarily to older residents, offering 24-hour medical and nursing care, physical therapy, rehabilitation services, specialised programmes for chronic and degenerative conditions, and tailored nutrition plans.

Facilities will also include an Alzheimer’s unit, intensive care, and high-quality accommodation with a strong focus on comfort and wellbeing.

The second unit will house the Uglešić Polyclinic and a mental health centre, relocating from its current premises to the new Dugopolje site.

A key emphasis of the project is on quality of life. Residents will have access to social activities, personalised programmes and surroundings designed to feel more like a hotel than a traditional healthcare institution.

The centre is scheduled to officially open on 1 September, when it will welcome its first users and mark what is being described as a new era in elderly care in Croatia.

The project has already generated strong public interest, particularly among families seeking reliable and high-quality care solutions for their loved ones.

Guided by the message “We care”, the Uglešić Health & Care Centar places the wellbeing of its users at the core of its mission, aiming to deliver a sustainable and dignified model of care for future generations.
