Kyle Ryde on the brink of historic third British Superbike Championship title

Kyle Ryde is just three races away from making British Superbike history.

The two-time reigning BSB champion enters the final round of the 2026 season this weekend with a 53-point lead over closest opponent Scott Redding. If he can stay ahead of his title rival in these final races, Ryde will clinch an historic threepeat achievement.

Kyle Ryde is just one round away from winning an historic third consecutive BSB title.

Success at the Brands Hatch finale will see the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing star become the first rider in the 30-year history of the championship to win three consecutive titles since Niall Mackenzie in the first seasons from 1996 to 1998.

It would also make Ryde the first ever BSB champion to win consecutive titles for different manufacturers, having claimed the last two with Yamaha. He made the switch to Ducati ahead of the 2026 season.

The Jacksdale rider clinched his 15th and 16th wins of the season at Donington Park last time out but a component failure forced him out of the final race, denying him the chance of a clean sweep.

“From my side, I feel I rode brilliantly all weekend at Donington Park. I set the fastest lap in every race I finished, took pole position, extended my championship lead and then we just had some bad luck,” Ryde said ahead of the Brands Hatch showdown.

“The boys didn’t deserve that, I had finished 89 races on the spin, without a problem or a crash which is a credit to the team too. It’s mad and a big stat and I was hoping that whenever it did happen, it would only come to a stop when it was something that I did wrong. But unfortunately it was something outside of our control.

“It was a terrible time in the season to have the problem, but it would have been worse if it had been at the final round, as Scott would have gained more points on me.

“It was bad luck, but it happens sometimes and I am looking forward now to Brands Hatch and trying to complete the threepeat. I am sure there will be some more curveballs, but hopefully Donington Park was the last one.”
