Minister of Civil Service Hun Many said the recruitment examination for 2,844 primary school teacher positions must be transparent, fair and merit-based, as approximately 20,000 candidates sat the examination at six centres on October 28.
Hun Many said:
Today, October 28, marks the 64th examination session for teachers recruited under employment contracts.
Specifically, today’s session focuses on primary education, involving the selection and training of teachers to meet the actual needs of primary schools for the new academic year. We are selecting candidates to fill 2,844 positions, with approximately 20,000 applicants participating across six examination centres.
As the committee, we have consistently provided clear guidance that the selection process under this new framework must strictly adhere to established legal and operational procedures. It must be accurate, fair and ensure equal opportunities. Most importantly, the entire process, including the final results, must be credible and trustworthy in the eyes of candidates and their parents.
The selection examination process must uphold the principles of meritocracy, transparency, fairness, inclusivity and efficiency.
