Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that four days have passed without a clear response from Um Sam Ann, a self-exiled opposition politician, to his invitation to present evidence of alleged territorial encroachment along the Cambodia-Thailand border between boundary markers 52 and 59.
The premier reiterated his call for Sam Ann and his border experts to bring relevant documents for direct discussions with specialists from the State Secretariat of Border Affairs.
The PM said the proposed discussions aim to demonstrate transparency, accountability, accuracy and responsibility to the public in addressing the unresolved border issue.
He also questioned Sam Ann’s conditions and concern for personal safety, suggesting they were attempts to avoid discussing the specific disputed area.
“If he is unwilling to discuss or lacks documents regarding just a few kilometres of territory, can he be expected to address the entire border?” the PM asked.
The premier reaffirmed that he was awaiting a clear response to his invitation.
