Kampong Cham, Hainan pledge to deepen cooperation in four key areas

Un Chanda, Kampong Cham provincial governor, and Liu Xiaoming, Hainan governor, have pledged to strengthen cooperation in four key areas to deepen nearly two decades of friendship between the two provinces.

The Cambodian delegation led by Chanda and Liu made the pledge in a meeting in Haikou, Hainan province, China, on Monday.

The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in healthcare to improve public well-being; agriculture and rural development to promote growth in both sectors; and trade and investment, including economic cooperation and trade exhibitions, to facilitate smoother bilateral trade.

They also pledged to maintain regular exchanges between the two-sister provinces to establish a stronger foundation for long-term friendship.

During the meeting, Liu warmly welcomed the Cambodian delegation and briefed them on progress in developing the Hainan Free Trade Port, which is expanding rapidly and creating better conditions for cooperation between the two regions.

He highlighted Kampong Cham’s abundant natural resources, agricultural products and agro-industrial potential, noting the province’s opportunities for further development.

In response, Chanda said Kampong Cham had always regarded Hainan as a priority cooperation partner.

He expressed his desire for both sides to build on their respective strengths and expand cooperation in agriculture, agro-industry, economic and trade affairs, healthcare, transportation, higher education, vocational training and youth exchanges.

Chanda also warmly invited businesspeople and enterprises from Hainan to explore investment opportunities and establish businesses in the province.
