A six-metre-long freshwater lobster statue was unveiled on the shores of Takeo Lake.
Located on the waterside in Daun Keo town, the lobster statue is 6 metres in length, 2.5 metres wide, and 4.5m in height.
Due to online criticism that a blue water pipe in front of the statue detracted from its beauty, Vy Samnan, Takeo Provincial Governor, said the pipe was installed temporarily because heavy rains saw water levels rise above expectations during construction.
Samnan added that the province produces between 70 and 80 tonnes of freshwater lobsters annually, with approximately 30 tonnes supplied to local markets.
Provincial officials expect the new monument to enhance regional identity, support local aquaculture and bolster agro-tourism along Takeo Lake.
