Francophonie official praises Cambodia’s preparations for 2026 summit

Minister of Women’s Affairs Ing Kantha Phavi has met with a senior Francophonie official to discuss preparations for the 20th Francophonie Summit and its side-events, scheduled to take place in Phnom Penh later this month.

Minister Kantha Phavi, who chairs Sub-Committee 5 in charge of side-events for the summit, received Rigibert Pinga Pinga, Acting Representative of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) for the Asia-Pacific region, and his delegation at the ministry on October 30.

During the meeting, Pinga Pinga praised the Royal Government of Cambodia for its preparations for the summit and commended the minister and relevant ministries and institutions for their work in organising the Village de la Francophonie and FrancoTech side-events.

Minister Kantha Phavi welcomed the OIF’s continued support and close cooperation in preparing for the summit and its accompanying events.

She also briefed the delegation on Cambodia’s efforts to promote gender equality and women’s affairs at the national and regional levels, highlighting the mandate of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and its Neary Rattanak strategic plan.

The 20th Francophonie Summit will be held on November 15 and 16 under the theme “Reinvest in Peace for Shared Prosperity and Lasting Stability”.

Two major side-events will accompany the summit.

The Village de la Francophonie will take place from November 13 to 17 at Wat Botum Park under the theme “Khmer Smiles, Francophonie Smiles”, while FrancoTech will be held from November 14 to 16 at the Koh Pich Convention Centre, Halls A–F, under the theme “One Francophone Community, One Digital Future”.
