Sok Lou, Battambang Provincial Governor, delivered emergency relief supplies on behalf of Prime Minister Hun Manet to 150 vulnerable families affected by recent flash floods in Samlot district on Sunday.
The assistance, allocated through the Cambodia Food Reserve System (CFRS), was distributed to affected households across seven communes comprising Tasanh, Meanchey, Sung, Samlot, Kampong Lpov, Tatork and O’Samril.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Lou emphasised that under the leadership of former Prime Minister and current Senate President Hun Sen and continuing under Prime Minister Hun Manet, the government remains steadfast in prioritising citizens’ well-being, particularly during hardships and natural disasters.
He urged residents to maintain proper sanitation and health precautions during the flood recovery phase.
He advised families to use clean or boiled water, look after the elderly and young children, remain vigilant about venomous animals and the risk of drowning, and guard against dengue fever.
Lou thanked the local authorities and emergency personnel for their prompt intervention and effective management of the flood situation, which prevented any loss of life.
In addition, he reminded eligible citizens to participate in this year’s voter list revision and registration process, which began on Wednesday and concludes on November 30 across all communes.
He encouraged registered voters to verify their personal details and complete the required biometric updates, including photo capture and thumbprint verification, at their designated commune centres.
