The Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei (YEAB) represented Brunei Darussalam at the 12th ASEAN-China Young Leaders Exchange Festival 2026, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening regional partnerships, empowering young leaders and promoting collaboration in sustainability and innovation.
The Bruneian delegation, invited through the Brunei-China Friendship Association (BCFA), comprised James Goh, Izdihar Sulaiman and Ahmad Fauzi representing YEAB, alongside Bruneian academics Chang Ming Hui and Dr. Nurul Amalina Suprem.
Organised by the China People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the festival brought together emerging leaders from ASEAN and China to exchange ideas, strengthen cross-cultural ties and explore opportunities for future cooperation.

During the programme, delegates met the President of CPAFFC, as well as the Governor and Vice Governor of Qinghai Province, where discussions centred on green development and enhancing ASEAN-China collaboration.
A key highlight of the programme was a visit to the world’s largest solar photovoltaic power plant, where delegates gained first-hand insight into how large-scale renewable energy projects are supporting China’s transition towards a low-carbon future.
The delegation also toured the State Grid Corporation’s Smart Grid Dispatch and Control Centre to learn how advanced digital technologies and artificial intelligence are being used to manage one of the world’s most sophisticated renewable energy networks.

The programme concluded with visits to Qinghai’s renowned natural and cultural attractions, including Qinghai Lake and the Kanbula UNESCO Global Geopark, giving participants a deeper appreciation of the province’s environmental significance and cultural heritage.
YEAB said the experience provided valuable insights into renewable energy, digital innovation and regional cooperation while strengthening connections with fellow young leaders from across ASEAN and China.
The association added that such international exchanges reinforce its commitment to bringing global perspectives back to Brunei Darussalam and supporting the nation’s sustainable economic development through greater regional engagement.
