The engine produces 147 horsepower at 3,400rpm and 400Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,000rpm, providing strong pulling power and confident acceleration when overtaking or carrying a full load of passengers.

Behind the wheel of the Fortuner
The Bruneian team had the opportunity to experience the Fortuner 2.4 on a drive from the Toyota showroom in Beribi through the Jerudong and Katok B Highway and around the curvy back roads of Jerudong Park.

From the moment it pulled away, the Fortuner felt composed and effortless. The 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine delivered strong low-end torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate confidently onto the highway without feeling strained.
Cruising along the Jerudong Highway, the Fortuner settled comfortably at higher speeds. The suspension absorbed road imperfections well, while the elevated driving position provided excellent visibility of surrounding traffic.

Around the roads near Jerudong Park, the steering felt predictable and reassuring despite the SUV’s size. It remained stable through sweeping bends, and body movements were well controlled, giving drivers confidence throughout the journey.
Inside, the cabin remained comfortable with road and wind noise well managed, making conversations between passengers easy even during highway driving. The supportive seats and generous cabin space also made the drive enjoyable for everyone on board.

Parking such a large SUV was made less intimidating thanks to the reverse camera and parking sensors, providing added confidence when manoeuvring into tighter spaces.
