His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs recently hosted a farewell luncheon for Her Excellency Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, at Istana Nurul Izzah, Jerudong.
Also present was Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the luncheon, His Royal Highness expressed appreciation to Her Excellency for her contributions towards strengthening the warm and longstanding friendship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines throughout her tenure.
Both sides acknowledged the close bilateral relations between the two countries, with cooperation spanning various sectors including trade, defence, health and people-to-people exchanges. Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines established diplomatic relations on 1 January 1984 and have since continued to enjoy excellent ties.
Her Excellency Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio has served as Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam since presenting her Letter of Credence to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on 24 May 2022.
The farewell luncheon reflected the enduring friendship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines, reaffirming both countries’ shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding.
