The European Commission did not wish to comment directly on the resignation of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, but referred journalists’ questions during the Foreign Affairs Council meeting to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
At a press conference in Brussels, Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho answered a journalist’s question about the resignation of Christian Schmidt and the end of his service in peacekeeping in BiH.
“This issue falls within the competence of High Representative Kaja Kallas, and we refer you to her press conference today, where the European Union’s position will be presented,” said spokesperson Pinho.
In his question, the journalist also highlighted concerns about the stability of BiH, recalling that representatives of the Republika Srpska entity were in Moscow for a military parade.
This was the only delegation from Europe that met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on that occasion.
The European Commission reiterated that positions on these issues are expected from High Representative Kallas, who will address the public within the framework of the Foreign Affairs Council session.
