California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) team fired back at Donald Trump on Monday after the president’s allies shared an image portraying Trump as Elvis Presley.
The Trump War Room account’s image, posted after Trump visited Graceland, the home of the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, showed the president reimagined in Presley’s iconic jumpsuit era.
But Newsom’s press office wasn’t impressed.
“Please just lower gas prices and release the files,” it wrote.
Trump has long, but somewhat questionably, claimed he resembles Presley.
At a 2018 rally in Elvis’ birthplace of Tupelo, Mississippi, he said: “When I was growing up, they said I look like Elvis.”
He doubled down on the comparison in 2024, sharing a split image of his face alongside Presley’s on his Truth Social platform and writing: “For so many years people have been saying that Elvis and I look alike. Now, this pic has been going all over the place. What do you think?”
