A new poll suggests the message may be backfiring.
A new Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll released this week by Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies found that a majority of Americans, some 51%, believe Trump is doing a worse job in the White House than his predecessor.
The survey also showed Trump’s overall approval rating slipping 2 percentage points to 45%, with declines recorded across every major policy area.
According to the poll, Trump’s most unpopular actions include expanding Immigration and Customs Enforcement as part of his immigration crackdown and withdrawing the United States from international organizations.
Some 55% of respondents also said Trump “is making bad deals on behalf of the country.”
Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, said the findings suggest Republicans “are now facing a tough midterm election.”
