Ted Cruz’s ‘Masculine’ Dig At Democratic Lawmaker Backfires Spectacularly On Social Media

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Monday used an interesting choice of words to mock Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, prompting social media critics to blast the GOP lawmaker over his lack of self-awareness during an appearance on Fox News.

“I gotta say, if you were making a list of 1,000 adjectives to describe this guy, ‘masculine’ would not be one of them,” Cruz told “Hannity” host Sean Hannity. “I mean, this guy, if a stiff breeze came by, it would blow him over like a feather.”

Talarico is currently against Texas Republican Ken Paxton, who President Donald Trump endorsed. Talarico has been the focal point of all sorts of accusations in recent weeks from GOP lawmakers and pundits.

Social media users called out Cruz’s statement about Talarico, highlighting some standout moments from his own recent history.

“This the same dude that endorsed the guy who called his wife ugly?” wrote one X user, with another person commenting: “Masculine is what you did when Texans were freezing to death and you fucked off to Cancun? Very masculine of you?”

Cruz has been an outspoken supporter of Trump and endorsed him in the 2016 election, even after the MAGA leader mocked the appearance of his wife Heidi Cruz. The Texas Republican also made headlines when he fled the Lone Star state for Cancun in 2021 during a deadly winter storm that left multiple residents dead.

“Says the man whose wife and father were demeaned by Trump but doesn’t speak up even once,” wrote one person on X, with another user noting: “Right… like when it got cold in Texas and you booked it to Mexico like the big strong man you are lol.”

Trump has commented on the GOP senator’s father on multiple occasions, accusing Rafael Cruz of having been an associate of those who killed former President John F. Kennedy. He was brutally reminded last week by “Late Night” host Seth Meyers.

Cruz went on to slam Talarico on Monday over his “vegan, no meat campaign.” Talarico is not only not a vegan, but quipped last month that he’s “been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton’s first indictment” in 2015 over felony securities fraud charges.

Social media users didn’t hesitate to skewer Cruz over his comments on Fox News.
