Kayleigh McEnany’s ‘Melania’ Movie Story Has Critics Asking For Receipts

McEnany, who served as White House press secretary during Donald Trump’s first term, told her “Outnumbered” co-hosts that her mother watched the film in a Florida theater over the weekend.

According to McEnany’s account of her mother’s experience, the screening was unusually lively.

“Not only was the theater packed, it was standing room only — if you could try to sneak in the back of the theater,” McEnany said. “People were cheering through it. They were excited. It was interactive. People interplaying with the film. She said it was just electric.”

The film debuted in theaters this weekend and earned roughly $7 million in ticket sales, a figure that exceeded industry expectations, according to The Associated Press.

McEnany’s claim of “standing room only,” however, quickly drew skepticism online, with critics noting it would typically violate theater safety rules. Others questioned the story’s credibility and asked for photographic or video evidence. Some commentators said the anecdote echoed McEnany’s exaggerated defenses of Trump during her tenure at the White House briefing podium.
