James Comey Subpoenaed Over Alleged ‘Grand Conspiracy’ Against Trump

Former FBI Director James Comey has reportedly been subpoenaed in connection with a “grand conspiracy” case against former officials who investigated and prosecuted President Donald Trump.

The subpoena, part of an investigation being led by a Trump-appointed federal prosecutor in Florida, is one of more than 130 filed since last year, Axios first reported Thursday citing sources with knowledge of the situation.

The subpoena was also confirmed to NBC and CBS News by similar sources.

The investigation focuses on an earlier investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and other prosecutions related to Trump, according to NBC.

Jason A. Reding Quiñones, who was sworn in as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida in August, is reportedly leading the probe. His office did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment Friday.

The investigation follows repeated failed attempts by the Trump administration to successfully prosecute Trump’s political foes as part of a retribution campaign.

Trump publicly lashed out at Attorney General Pam Bondi in September over the lack of progress.

“What about Comey, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, Leticia???” he posted on Truth Social, referring to Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

“We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility,” he wrote. “They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”

Criminal indictments were filed against Comey and James last fall, but were then tossed by a judge who concluded that the prosecutor behind the indictments had been unlawfully appointed.

Representatives for Comey did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
