Digicel Barbados has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the island’s tourism and hospitality industry through advanced digital solutions that make guest experiences smarter, more connected, and more secure.
Chief Executive Officer Natalie Abrahams said the company was focused on helping hotels embrace technology to meet changing traveller expectations and strengthen business resilience.
“Every room booked and every post shared online becomes a digital postcard promoting Barbados and the unforgettable experiences you create,” she said while delivering remarks on Wednesday at a Digicel Business event at Sandals Royal Barbados.
“Today’s travellers want seamless, personalised, and immediate service. Hospitality is now digital and data‑driven, powered by secure, reliable connectivity.”
Abrahams noted that while technology has become central to the modern guest experience, it also introduces new risks such as data breaches and cyberattacks.
She said: “Cyber risks are rising fast. In the Caribbean, cyber exposures increased by 76 per cent since 2023. On the dark Web, stolen credit cards can sell for as little as US$17, while 46 per cent of data breaches involve customer data.”

To help businesses identify vulnerabilities, she added that Digicel was now offering complimentary Dark Web Scans to its hospitality partners.
Touting Digicel’s record of reliability, Abrahams said that during Hurricane Beryl last year, “87 per cent of our customers were reconnected within 48 hours, with the rest coming online as soon as local power was restored. That is the reliability we promise”.
Marco Piazzi, Digicel’s regional hospitality business development manager, said the company was positioning itself as the leading technology partner for Caribbean hotels through products that integrate artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. He explained that Digicel’s 360View surveillance system and 360Comms communication platform were designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and connectivity across hotel properties.
“By combining connectivity, ICT, Cloud, and cybersecurity, Digicel helps hotels operate smarter and safer,” Abrahams said. “Together, we can build a hospitality industry that is not only warm and welcoming but smart, secure, and future-ready.” (SZB)
