On a remote coral island in the British Virgin Islands, something extraordinary happens every November. The grills start firing, the music carries through the air, and Anegada becomes the heart of the Caribbean’s lobster season. The Anegada Lobster Festival is more than a food event — it’s a three-day island celebration built around one legendary ingredient — and a place with some of the Caribbean’s most stunning beaches.
From Nov. 28 to 30, travelers will gather on the uncrowded island for a culinary journey that winds through beaches, open-air kitchens, and the island’s most beloved spots. It’s one of the Caribbean’s most anticipated food festivals, blending local culture, coastal beauty, and unforgettable flavors.
A Culinary Island Adventure
The festival is designed to be explored. Guests move from one restaurant to the next, tasting Anegada’s famous Spiny Lobster in its many forms — spicy, buttery, grilled, curried, and everything in between.
At Anegada Beach Club, lobster is folded into spicy mac and cheese or skewered on rum-soaked kebabs. Anegada Reef Hotel serves delicate wontons in garlic sauce. Flash of Beauty pairs a rich curry with golden plantain balls. Pink Flamingo turns up the heat with jerk lobster sandwiches. Lobster Trap adds punch with sriracha mayo, Sid’s Pomato Point leans creamy with three-cheese mac bites, and Big Bamboo and Tipsy keep things classic with crispy lobster fritters.
Each stop tells its own story, and together they form a map of the island’s flavors.
More Than Just Lobster
Anegada’s beauty is as much a part of the festival as the food. Guests can visit artisan stalls, watch flamingos along the island’s salt ponds, and learn how the spiny lobster goes from reef to plate. When the day winds down, the music starts — Virgin Islands bands and regional artists turn the island into one big open-air party, with dancing that goes well into the night.
This is an island that knows how to celebrate its signature catch — and how to make visitors feel like they belong.
If You Go
The festival runs Nov. 28–30 on Anegada. Visitors can reach the island by ferry or flight from Tortola, or sail in for the weekend. The best way to experience it is to move from stop to stop, sampling and exploring along the way.
The Anegada Lobster Festival isn’t just a weekend of eating. It’s the Caribbean’s greatest lobster celebration — and it only happens on this island.
