Banyan Tree Is Opening Two New Dominican Republic Resorts

Banyan Group is officially entering the Dominican Republic, marking a notable expansion for the global hospitality company in one of the Caribbean’s most active resort markets. The group will debut with two distinct properties in the Punta Cana area: Angsana Cap Cana and Cassia Punta Cana, bringing both a traditional resort concept and an extended-stay offering to the destination.

Angsana Arrives in Cap Cana

The Angsana brand will land in Cap Cana, the private enclave at the eastern edge of the Dominican Republic that has become home to some of the country’s most high-profile resort developments. Angsana properties are typically positioned as contemporary, design-forward resorts with a strong wellness focus, drawing on Banyan Group’s roots in spa-driven hospitality.

For Punta Cana, the opening signals a continued shift toward more brand-diverse, experience-led resorts, particularly in Cap Cana, where development has leaned toward polished, self-contained destinations with beaches, marinas, golf, and dining concentrated within a single community.

Cassia Brings an Extended-Stay Option

Alongside Angsana, Banyan Group will introduce Cassia Punta Cana, expanding the extended-stay segment in the region. Cassia is designed for longer visits, blending hotel services with residential-style accommodations aimed at travelers who want more flexibility and space during their stay.

Extended-stay resorts have gained traction across the Caribbean, particularly among travelers combining leisure with remote work or planning multi-week escapes. Cassia Punta Cana positions Banyan Group squarely within that trend, offering an alternative to the traditional short-stay resort model that has long defined the Punta Cana experience.

Why This Matters for the Dominican Republic

Banyan Group’s entry adds another international luxury operator to the Dominican Republic’s fast-growing portfolio, reinforcing Punta Cana’s role as the country’s primary gateway for new resort concepts. The pairing of Angsana and Cassia also highlights a broader strategy: serving both classic vacation travelers and guests seeking longer, more flexible stays within the same destination.

With these two openings, Banyan Group joins a wave of global brands betting on the Dominican Republic’s continued momentum, while Cap Cana and greater Punta Cana continue to evolve beyond their all-inclusive roots into a more varied resort landscape.
