“Today, urbanization acts as one of the main factors determining socio-economic development in the world. As a result of the acceleration of urbanization processes on a global scale, the role of cities is increasing, and the trend of migration from rural areas to cities is becoming more and more persistent,” National Secretary of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) Mohammed Zayyanu told AZERTAC.
He described the World Urban Forum as an important platform for learning from the experiences of different countries and strengthening global cooperation.
According to him, such international events enable the development of shared solutions to make cities more sustainable, inclusive, and livable.
