One person has been detained and at least one person injured after a shooting and a fire broke out outside of Serbia’s parliament building in Belgrade.
A video posted on the NOVA media outlet, the location of which was confirmed by Reuters, showed armed security officers approaching a large tent outside parliament on Wednesday.
Several shots were fired and then a fire broke out inside the tent, which was one of several erected this year by supporters of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during anti-government protests.
President Vučić described the shooting as a terrorist act.

It was not clear who fired the shots or how the fire started.
Local police declined to comment.
NOVA said that one person was injured in the incident, while N1 TV said a 57-year-old man was wounded by a gunshot and is in a stable condition.
Another video posted on X showed a man lying on the ground with his hands behind his back and surrounded by police officers.
Earlier this year, Serbian police clashed with anti-government protesters who were demanding snap elections and an end to Mr Vučić’s 12 years in office.

Serbian police in riot gear clash with anti-government protesters demanding snap elections and an end to President Aleksandar Vučić’s 12-year rule.
Scores of riot police officers were deployed in June to government buildings, while protesters threw bottles, rocks and flares in the centre of Belgrade.
At the time, Mr Vučić said the protesters had attempted to topple the state.
“They wanted to topple Serbia, and they have failed,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
