Police search for man who disappeared during camping trip with wife in Victoria’s east

Police are appealing to the public for help in locating a man who has been missing for five days after leaving his campsite in Victoria’s east.

Troy Milne, 61, was camping with his wife in a caravan park in Woodside Beach when he left to pick up supplies on Tuesday at about 5:30pm.

The Cockatoo man entered a store in Sale about 40 minutes later.

His silver and black 4WD was recognised in the neighbouring town of Bairnsdale the next morning at about 9:18am.

Police believe Mr Milne shopped at a service station in Omeo, in Victoria’s high country, just after midday.

Shop staff told police he appeared lost and confused and requested directions back to Bairnsdale.

Mr Milne’s car was last detected on CCTV travelling along the Great Alpine Road in Swifts Creek at 1pm.

Police and Mr Milne’s family are concerned for his welfare as he has diabetes and is not carrying insulin with him.

Police members, its Air Wing and SES volunteers have been searching for Mr Milne since Tuesday but have failed to find any further evidence.

The 61-year-old is described as being 193cm tall with a medium to solid build and scars on his forehead.

He was last seen wearing a white singlet, grey jumper, track pants and black thongs.

Police are calling for anyone with information to call Triple Zero or the Sale Police Station.
