One Man in Custody, Another Nursing Gunshot Injuries

A 40-year-old Mount Joy man is in police custody after a shooting incident left a 66-year-old Villa resident injured on Monday evening.

Police said the suspect went to the Parham Police Station around 6:45 p.m. and reported that he had been involved in a shooting incident. Officers then took him into custody and seized a firearm.

According to the Police, the injured man was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre with a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.

The victim reportedly remains in stable condition and is receiving medical treatment.

The suspect is being held on suspicion of shooting with intent while investigators continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact the Parham Police Station at 463-2060, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913 or 462-3914, or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
