Coventry City transfers: Caleb Yirenkyi completes club-record move from Nordsjaelland

Premier League newcomers Coventry City have completed the club-record signing of Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.

The 20-year-old has signed a long-term contract, with the Sky Blues believed to have paid Danish side Nordsjaelland a fee of 27m euros (£23.1m), plus 3m euros (£2.5m) in add-ons.

Yirenkyi made his international debut in May 2025 and played at this summer’s World Cup, scoring a stoppage-time winner in the Black Stars’ group win over Panama.

He becomes Coventry’s fifth summer signing after Frank Lampard led the club back into the top flight after a 25-year absence.

“When I spoke to the head coach about the plans and the style, it’s something I really like, and I look forward to learning from him,” said Yirenkyi.

“I’m still young so I want to learn from the head coach, the other players and work really hard for the team.”

He is a product of the Right to Dream academy and joined Nordsjaelland in 2024, winning the Danish Superliga’s young player of the year award last season.

Although primarily a midfielder, Yirenkyi is known for his versatility having played at right-back for both club and country.
