Have You Seen This? An amazing case of the fox zoomies

THE BACKYARD — If you’ve had a dog or cat in your house, you’ve likely experienced the zoomies.

You might just be sitting there, stroking your cat’s head when it happens. Or, maybe your dog is snoozing in the yard when it strikes.

What are the zoomies? They’re sudden, intense bursts of energy where dogs or cats run around wildly, often in circles or at high speed. Think of a car accelerating from zero to 60 mph, and then imagine that the car is being driven by a crazed monkey.

Turns out, foxes aren’t so different from the dogs we keep as pets. They both have a keen sense of smell and excellent hearing. They use body language in similar ways, with tail movements being of particular importance, and they both use scent marking to communicate with each other.

One other key similarity? As seen in this video, foxes also get the zoomies.

Wow. This has to be the most enthusiastic fox I’ve ever seen. All the foxes I’ve seen here in Utah have been trotting along as though they didn’t have a care in the world. But this fox from the United Kingdom has them all beat thanks to amazing acceleration and an absolutely adorable zest for life.
