Lorry driver died, two others injured in accident on Hebbal flyover

A 25-year-old garbage lorry driver was killed and two others injured in an accident on Hebbal flyover near Kodigehalli in the wee hours on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Faizan Ahmed. Since the lorry had broken down, Ahmed parked it on the side of the flyover. Another stone-laden lorry was heading to the city from Devanahalli. The driver had failed to notice the stationary vehicle in front of him and crashed into it.

Ahmed and his assistant, Marghoob Raza, 23, were inside the stationary vehicle when the incident occurred. The impact left Ahmed dead and Raza injured. The stones also fell on the flyover.

Meanwhile, a family was travelling in a cab in the same direction. While negotiating the fallen stones on the road, the cab hit the stone-laden vehicle. The cab driver got off the cab and helped the passengers.

Passers-by shifted the lorry driver, Ahmed, to a hospital, where he was declared as brought dead. The cab driver and the passengers also sustained injuries but were said to be out of danger.

The Hebbal traffic police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic on the flyover. The police have registered a case against Harish, the driver of the stone-laden lorry.
