BROCKTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said that a Brockton man plead guilty to selling fentanyl to a cooperating witness while on probation for a 2019 conviction.

29-year-old Joshua Tavares was charged with three counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and fentanyl analogue.

Tavares admitted to conducting six sales of fentanyl and fentanyl analogue to a cooperating witness from September to November of 2024, selling approximately 549 grams of fentanyl analogue.

The office said all the transactions were caught on camera.

During searches of multiple addresses tied to Tavares in December 2024 police found approximately four kilograms of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, packaging materials for distribution of controlled substances, over $89,000 in cash were recovered, a .40 caliber Glock firearm, and a 9mm Glock firearm with a machinegun conversion device and drum magazine.
