MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s Senate advances a sweeping education reform proposal.
Lawmakers have debated all week about the plan. It sets classroom minimums, a new funding formula, and begins the process of redrawing school district lines.
The aim is to reign in the cost of education while improving opportunities for students.
The senate approved the plan on a voice vote.
They will now reconcile their differences with House lawmakers next week before sending a final plan to Governor Phil Scott, but he now says he will veto the bill as it stands.
