President Donald Trump scored quite the keepsake from his friends at FIFA.
While talking to British sports streamer DAZN during soccer’s Club World Cup finals on Sunday, the president revealed that he was given the tournament’s ornate 24-karat gold-plated trophy, leaving the eventual winners with a replica instead.
According to Trump, FIFA President Gianni Infantino asked him to take care of the triple-ringed Tiffany & Co.-crafted trophy when he visited the White House with members of Italy’s Juventus Football Club last month.
“Could you hold this trophy for a little while?” the gold-loving commander in chief remembered the FIFA boss asking him.
As Trump recalled, “We put it in the Oval Office and then I said: ‘When are you going to pick up the trophy,’ and [Infantino] said: ‘We’re never going to pick it up. You can have it forever in the Oval Office.’”
So when English Premier League team Chelsea beat France’s Paris Saint-Germain to win the competition between soccer’s top club teams, they apparently ended up being given a dupe of the original trophy, which reportedly cost $230,000.
“They actually made a new one but right now [the original] is in the Oval,” the president appeared to confirm.

While FIFA’s top official seemed willing to go above and beyond to appease Trump, football fans were nowhere near as warm during his appearance at Sunday’s game.
The president was repeatedly booed when spotted on the Jumbotron and while presenting trophies to the champions.
