President of Turkmenistan establishes three new ministries and fires two province governors
AKIPRESS.COM – President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has dissolved the Agency for Transport and Communications and announced the establishment of three new ministries after an extended Cabinet meeting held on July 11, the Chronicles of Turkmenistan reported.
As part of the reform of the transport and communications sector, the Ministry of Railway Transport, headed by Mammet Akmammedov, the Ministry of Communications, headed by Khadzhymyrat Khudaigulyev (six-month probation), and the Ministry of Motor Transport, headed by Begench Annadurdyyev, were created.
In addition, the State Service for Aviation (Türkmenhowaýollary), chaired by Dowran Saburov, and the State Service for Maritime and River Transport, chaired by Azat Shanazarov, were established.
The President also introduced the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Transport and Communications, appointing Mammedkhan Chakiyev, who previously led the now-dissolved agency. Chakiyev will serve a six-month probation.
Nazar Agakhanov was appointed Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations.
Dovrangeldi Sapbayev was dismissed for “serious shortcomings” from the post of Chair of the State Concern Türkmenhimiýa. He was replaced by Tangryguly Atayev.
Berdimuhamedov also made notable regional changes by replacing the governors of two out of five provinces.
Maksat Annanepesov was dismissed as governor of Lebap Province, replaced by Durdy Gendzhiev, who will also remain Chair of the State Committee for Water Management.
Dovranberdi Annaberdiyev takes over as governor of Mary Province from Begenchmyrat Orazov.
Further reshuffles affected several district-level administrators and university vice-rectors.
