Deputies searching for person of interest in St. Albans stabbing

ST. ALBANS, WV (WOWK) — Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a woman who is a person of interest in an early-morning stabbing in St. Albans.

According to a press release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s office, around 5:30 a.m., deputies responded to a call at the Amityville Court Apartments and, upon arrival, they discovered that the incident had happened about half an hour earlier after the victim’s girlfriend arrived at his residence.

The press release said investigators reported that the two individuals have been in “a cyclical relationship over the last five years” and had recently separated again. According to the sheriff’s office, when the female suspect was asked to leave the apartment, the two got into a verbal altercation and that escalated into a physical confrontation that resulted in the suspect allegedly stabbing the boyfriend multiple times.

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment as a precautionary measure, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives were then called to the scene and are continuing “a thorough investigation.”

No charges have been filed, but deputies have identified a person of interest and they’re actively working to find her, the press statement said.

“This appears to be an isolated incident stemming from a domestic situation, and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” the sheriff’s office said.
