BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Get out your green, Vermont’s football club holds its home opener this weekend.
Green FC faces off against FC Laval from Quebec in their home opener.
The so-called Maple Cup sold out 2,500 seats a week ago. The team says games are reaching capacity earlier and earlier.
Vermont Green FC was founded in 2021 and started competing in the USL League 2 in 2022.
The Vermont soccer scene is getting more and more time in the spotlight after the University of Vermont’s men’s soccer team won the NCAA College Cup in the fall.
Green FC has 12 home games on the calendar through July.
