Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Airways announced on Thursday the resumption of scheduled direct flights to the Chinese capital, Beijing, starting November 14, 2026, marking a significant step in restoring direct air connectivity with one of Iraq’s primary commercial and economic partners.
In an official statement, Director General of Iraqi Airways Mustafa Talib confirmed that the national carrier will operate two weekly round-trip flights servicing the strategic route (Baghdad – Basra – Beijing).
Outbound flights from Iraq are scheduled every Tuesday and Saturday, with return legs operating out of Beijing on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Talib highlighted that the service reinstatement aligns with directives issued by Minister of Transport Wahab Al-Hasani to expand the national carrier’s international route network and inaugurate high-yield commercial air corridors.
By linking Baghdad and the southern oil hub of Basra directly to Beijing, the route aims to streamline business travel, facilitate bilateral freight and corporate logistics, and support expanding commercial and industrial cooperation between Iraq and China.
