The United States Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera, visited affected communities in the province of Herrera on Friday, November 6, to deliver assistance, assess ongoing U.S.-backed response efforts, and meet with provincial and national representatives.

In Borrola, Ambassador Cabrera accompanied the Governor of Herrera, Elías Corro Cano, and representatives of the National Aeronaval Service of Panama in the delivery of food donated by McDonald’s and backpacks provided through the Humanitarian Assistance Program of the United States Southern Command to more than 100 children affected by the earthquake.

In Santa Maria, the ambassador visited U.S.-funded emergency shelters where families displaced by the earthquake are receiving temporary housing and essential supplies. Ambassador Cabrera also met with representatives of the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) and the National Air and Naval Service at the Herrera Operations Center to discuss shared response and recovery priorities.
