Cambodia has championed the vital role of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in upholding the rule of law and international justice, urging all nations to ensure full compliance with its legally binding decisions.
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly’s annual meeting on the ICJ report on Thursday, Ambassador Chansophea Yaung, Cambodia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, underscored the Court’s central position in maintaining global respect for international law.
According to a statement issued by the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the United Nations yesterday, the ambassador stressed that given the legally binding nature of the tribunal’s judgments, all parties must guarantee their complete and effective implementation.
He also cited the ICJ’s 1962 judgment and its 2013 interpretation regarding the Case Concerning the Temple of Preah Vihear, describing them as landmark contributions to the Court’s jurisprudence.
