Police arrested a well-known businesswoman at Phnom Penh’s Techo International Airport as she attempted to flee abroad.
Li Dae, who runs a real estate business and a petrol station, was arrested on September 28 and sent to detention at the “M2” prison for “issuing cashless checks worth more than one million dollars.”
However, later she was released from custody.
In 2023, Phnom Penh Municipal Court sentenced her to two years in prison, fined her four million riel, and required her to pay compensation to the victim.
The Phnom Penh Court of Appeal, based on evidence in absentia, upheld her conviction.
After her arrest, she appealed against the court’s ruling, which is still under review, and is in custody with the military police, in accordance with the court’s order.
