War erupts between Kenyans and Tanzanians at the Namanga Border

Kenyans seem to have gone to war against Tanzanians at the Namanga One-Stop border Post following gruesome murder.

The Kenya-Tanzania border at Namanga was forced into closure, for two consecutive days, following chaos that erupted after a customs clearance agent was abducted and murdered, with his body concealed in what was described to be a shallow grave.

The dead victim happened to be a Kenyan Clearance agent at the Namanga OSBP known as Ian Nzioki Jackson, who went missing from the 28th of October 2026 after reportedly crossing to Tanzania.

It was believed that, Nzioki was abducted.

A week later, his body was discovered chopped into pieces and buried on the Tanzanian side of the Border.

The body was later exhumed and sent to the deceased’s family home and then backlash followed.

Angry residents on the Kenyan side of the border set tires on fire, barricading the border and demanding an explanation why their fellow citizens should be killed, allegedly by Tanzanians.

The usually busy Namanga border has been brought to a standstill, cargo trucks, passenger buses have all been grounded as angry people demand justice.

Angry residents and clearing agents have since barricaded the Nairobi-Arusha highway with stones, logs and burning tyres.

“If Tanzanians think they can abduct Kenyans the way they do their own people, then they are in for a surprise,” the demonstrating Kenyans were heard to shout.

Some Tanzanians were also seen throwing rocks to the Kenyan side of the border.

In short, this is also being seem like a war between the two East African countries on the shared borderline.

Following the chaos, the Kajiado Central Member of Parliament Memusi Kanchory went to the area walking into the storm and tried to calm down the irate crowd, attempts that however failed.

Kanchory claimed that he had crossed to Tanzania and went as far as Longido District Headquarters where he held an audience with the local authorities.

As it happens, the Tanzanian officials asked to be given seven days to investigate the issue.

When the Kenyan member of parliament relayed back these updates from Tanzania, the crowd at Namanga became even more furious.

“Seven days for what? We want the answer in 12 hours and whoever committed the murder must be charged within 24 hours, we don’t have a whole week here,” they shouted.
