A pedestrian and a driver were killed in two separate crashes Wednesday night, Louisiana State Police said.
The first happened at about 6 p.m. on La. 67, at Kent Drive in East Baton Rouge Parish, when a 64-year-old Baker man, a pedestrian, was struck by a vehicle and died, State Police said in a news release. The man was not identified.
Investigators learned that as a 2021 Ford Escape traveled north on La. 67 in the right lane, a man was walking east across the northbound lanes of the highway.
For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian entered the right lane and was fatally struck by the Ford, State Police said.
The crash remains under investigation, State Police said.
Two hours later, at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, a 65-year-old Denham Springs man died in a single-vehicle crash, the agency said.
The man was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram north on La.. 63 in East Feliciana, near La. 960, when the truck went off the road to the right and overturned. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, State Police said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, the agency said.
